Stacey Barnes – Grandparents Trip

My mother contacted Kitt Garrett through her personal travel agent and I can speak for the whole family when I say that this weekend trip was amazing! I have been to New York many times in my life, but had not really experienced the city through a child’s eyes. Kitt planned an extraordinary trip with our children (ages 9, 7 and 6) in mind.

We arrived in NY on a Thursday night so we could hit the ground running on Friday morning. First stop was a Museum where we met a well versed docent who gave us an overview of the highlights. Our driver then delivered us to a kid-friendly, themed restaurant for lunch. From there, we visited a candy shop and FAO Schwartz, before making our way to Radio City Music Hall for the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular…what an amazing show. Even my brother, who was dreading sitting in a dark theater watching dancers perform, absolutely loved the show! Our last planned event of the evening was to visit one of NY’s iconic spots, which provided a breathtaking view of the city. On our way back to the hotel, we posed in front of the big tree, watched the ice skaters at Rockefeller Plaza and stopped for some Kid friendly shopping (great time to shop, by the way…this was Kitt’s idea!).

On day two, we hopped in a limo (the kids went nuts) and headed to a spot in the theater district to meet a cast member. This was, by far, the absolute highlight of the trip. Afterwards, we ate at a lovely French Bistro and then went to the matinee of Mary Poppins. The girls were thrilled at how close our seats were to the stage and especially at the end of the show when the cast member we had met in the morning saw us and waved! They felt so special! After dinner, we visited the Empire State Building utilizing special tickets, which was a wonderful touch!

On Sunday, our last day, we visited another museum. We were greeted by our lovely tour guide, who led the girls on a special adventure in the museum. They loved it, and the Guide was extremely knowledgeable and wonderful with the children. Our final and last stop of the trip was a quick guided tour through Central Park. This was a perfect way to end our stay, as the kids were able to play and climb on the statues, getting some energy out before heading to the airport!

All in all, Kitt planned a fabulous trip that we will never forget. The special touches were what made our visit to New York so extremely memorable.
