Kathy and Sam Galloway’s 50th Wedding Anniversary Trip to NYC

How do you celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary with a family of 13 ages 13 to 70 and ensure that everyone has a good time? The answer is to call Geraci Travel, Jeanelle Harrison. When we informed her that our anniversary is December 30th and a desire to see the New York New Year’s Eve Ball Drop was a lifelong dream, a plan began to be formulated.

Jeanelle called Discover New York and Beyond and Vee Vorasane to collaborate and custom design the itinerary. Likes, dislikes, interests, and the ages of everyone involved were discussed. A sample trip was shown to us and we selected our favorite parts and tweaked them some more. What resulted was an amazing trip that was loved by all.

We started our trip with visit to the Statue of Liberty and a downtown Museum and DNY took care of all the details. Our own private transportation throughout the trip certainly helped. Between sights, a well arranged lunch at a local Deli satisfied everyone. Later dinner at a marvelous Steakhouse, a must on our list, and a Top of the Rock visit with our guide taking on our gang.

Monday turned out to be our favorite day. Much to the trepidation of the men, we enjoyed a back – stage visit with a cast member from a Broadway Show. Hilarious and fun. Next a cooking class at one of NY’s culinary schools. This turned out to be a family favorite. Some even using their new-found skills at home. The day was followed by attending a performance of Kinky Boots, culminating in an unprecedented delivery of pizzas to our Hotel, not only devoured by us but the staff at the hotel as well.

Tuesday – private tour before opening hours at one of NY’s famous museums, lunch and a moving experience at the 9/11 Memorial Museum accompanied by our amazing guide. This night culminated in our actual anniversary dinner in a private room in an amazing restaurant. A photographer arranged by DNY helped preserve this memory, all 13 of us together in a rare gathering.
