Groundhog Day, The Musical
This production is a musical version of the film Groundhog Day by the creative team that brought you Matilda The Musical. After a successful run in London, the show is now on Broadway.
The story centers around Phil Connors, an arrogant, self-centered big-city TV weatherman. He and his producer, Rita Hanson, and their cameraman are sent the small town of Punxsutawney. Each year on Groundhog Day, the townspeople gather to see if “Punxsutawney Phil”, a groundhog, can see his shadow and predict the remaining number weeks of winter. Phil can’t wait to return to the city and is caught off guard by an impending snow storm that delays their departure.
Phil wakes up the following day and discovers it’s Groundhog Day all over again, day after day until he figures out he must change to change the outcome, especially his relationship with Rita.
The show’s use of illusions during the second act is worth seeing the entire production!
Recommended for audiences ages 13 and over who want a fun Broadway experience.
