Wonderful New Production of The Heiress Arrives on Broadway
Posted on Oct 24, 2012
New York has a stunning mew production of The Heiress. It weaves together the richness of dialogue with lush fabrics in both the set and costume design. They counterpoint a striking contrast between the cold and lonely relationships of an heiress and her father. Jessica Chastain (The Help), portrays a lonely heiress who is torn between her charming suitor and Dan Stevens (“Downton Abbey”) who may be a gold-digger and David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) as her disapproving father.
The story is loosely based on Henry James’ novel Washington Square, it was the hit of the 1947-48 Broadway season.
