After the Dance Synopsis

“Few dramatists of this century have written with more understanding of the human heart than Rattigan.” – Michael Billington

Originally penned as a satirical attack on the Bright Young Things of the 1920s, After The Dance reveals a truly vivid study of humanity and the depths of the human heart. The play takes place in chic Mayfair and revolves around Joan and David, the frivolous, party-going Bright Young Things in question. They find the veneer of their younger selves wearing thin. An affair is followed by tragedy, which in turn leads to further devastation. Brimming with richly drawn characters, immense wit and astonishingly poignant dramatic writing, After The Dance offers a thought provoking, moving and hilarious night of exemplary theatre by one of Noël Coward’s best loved playwrights.

Noël and Company

Celebrating the opus of Sir Noël Coward, along with the most esteemed British playwrights from the last century, Noël and Company aims to provide our audience with un-compromising performance standards and a commitment to excellence. In addition to presenting the great works of playwrights such as John Osborne, Joe Orton, Terence Rattigan, Martin McDonagh, Alan Bennett, Harold Pinter, J.M. Barrie and Alan Ayckbourn, we will extend our series to showcase today’s most promising British playwrights, librettists and composers. In our own small way, Noël and Company strives to ensure the legacy of these extraordinary British writers who have so eloquently captured the human condition and enriched our lives. In addition to this mission we will strive to visit various arts schools and universities, performing selected readings, with the intent of fostering the passions of tomorrow’s theatre community.
