New York has a new Bull on Broadway
Posted on Oct 11, 2016
There’s a new bull on Broadway. Since 1989 Arturo Di Modica’s bronze Charging Bull was the only bull on Broadway, attracting millions of visitors to Bowling Green to have their picture taken with the Bull.
The new bull is part of a series of sculptures entitled “A Fancy Animal Carnival” by Taiwanese artist Hung Yi. Its location in the Garment District is the perfect area to showcase these pieces as the area is known for transforming fabric into fashion. Each of the whimsical sculptures reflects folk culture as well as region, and represents a narrative expressed through traditional Taiwanese symbols, which are believed to bring luck. They also represent the artist’s view of everyday life.
