I didn't know you did that!

What do you recommend to help us celebrate our father’s 80th Birthday with all the children and grandchildren?
Intergenerational family travel is wonderful and with over 200 nationalities in NYC, there is cultural heritage for everyone.  Many of the people in their 80’s remember living or visiting New York as a child.  They bring their own stories to these family trips while new memories are being created.  DNY will bring the story of immigration and "making it in New York", come alive for the entire family. DNY will arrange transfers from the airport, hotel rooms, welcome gift bags, welcome dinner, sightseeing with experts in a variety of disciplines and exploring New York to build new family memories. Call us and see how easy family time can be.  212-370-1319.

Can you help our theater group visit New York and see the new shows that are opening on Broadway?
DNY will create a touch down to take off package to meet your budget and take your group behind the scenes to meet the people that create the shows and learn what’s involved in getting the show to Broadway.  Learn to sing one of the hit numbers from the show with a musical director and then sing it with a cast member. Learn one of the dance routines from one of the shows that you will see and dance with the dance captain. Meet Oscar Hammerstein III and hear the history of the Rogers and Hammerstein’s contribution to musical theater with lunch in a private room.  Taking you beyond the average trip to NY to see the shows, DNY takes you beyond the New York that you already know!

It’s almost impossible to believe that the summer has come to an end and the quiet of the streets of NY will return to their crowded state within days as families return from their summer homes.

The international visitors that have been in New York all summer have been great for tourism.  You can walk down almost any street now and hear every language except English!!!!

New restaurants are opening, new exhibits are providing opportunities to revisit old favorites and the parks look gorgeous for those who wish to see the greener side of the city.

Combing art and architecture, history and horticulture have always been a signature of Discover New York to take the visitor and locals beyond the New York that they already know.  We welcome outdoor public sculpture and delight when thousands of people come and enjoy it.  One unforeseen challenge with this year’s big must see-must do art project: The New York City WaterFalls by Olafur Eliasson has turned into a challenge for locals.  The force of the salt water, yes that’s right salt water has been spraying onto the highway along the East River and killing the trees next to the River Café.  The East River is not a river at all.  It’s a tidal estuary that brings salt water from Long Island Sound into the New York Harbor.  The salt is caught in the water as it is pumped up the structure and then spills over into the falls as it returns to the river splashing as the wind carries the water and sprays it.

Therefore, with a lot of tug of war discussion, the comprise position has been to reduce the hours that the falls will work rather than close prior to the October 13th date.  The installation's new hours of operation will be cut in half starting at 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays Saturdays and Sundays.  Monday and Wednesdays will be from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.  Since it has always been more interesting to see the WaterFalls in the evening with the lights reflecting the water rather than during the day when you see the skeletal structure, book evening cruises.  DNY still provides more private yacht cruise opportunities than anyone.  Please call us to find out more about seeing the WaterFalls before they finish.  There is nothing like a dinner cruise around the harbor looking at the skyline and lifting a glass of champagne at the Statue of Liberty on a private yacht.
