The world of travel is truly amazing and the friendships that come about can be life long.  Having lived in Sydney from 1978 – 1982, our family shared the joys of growing up with several families.  My son’s good friends have grown up and now have children of their own.  One of them is the Cousin’s Family.  Sara Cousins married Damian Fielke and they live in West Chatswood.  They now have two children, Oscar and Charlie.

Sara and her quilting partner, Kathy Doughty, own a popular patchwork shop called Material Obsession in Sydney, Australia, where they share their distinctive, colorful and contemporary designs. They teach anyone, even those who don’t think they are ‘creative’, so you can confidently choose colors and patterns to create bold, easy-to-make quilts — perfect for today’s busy craftspeople.

Material Obsession stocks a unique, vibrant range of modern fabrics for the modern quilter plus all the notions and books to help get you started.  Their first book, appropriately named, Material Obsession is due in May 2008. It will guide you into the modern world of quilting through their unique design philosophy and 23 fun and colorful projects.  To get some instant inspiration, visit their blog at www.materialobsession.com

Damian has even gotten into the act and started a company called Fabricmatcher.com

When you make a quilt, a dress or even a handbag, it is such a personal thing. You want the color to match your needs and your lifestyle. It’s easy to purchase fabrics and patterns on the web but then comes the difficult task of matching the color to your designs. To many, it is a frustrating process as color design is not easy but fabricmatcher.com can help get the look you want.  The world’s first one stop shop for matching fabrics, patterns and color to suit your imagination. They have developed innovative color and matching tools to help you choose and match fabric to your projects. You can customize quilt and home sewing creations then buy the fabrics and patterns you need right now. There’s even a place to stash your projects, including favorite photos, patterns, your creations and much more.

Damian also is using his advertising background to work with Ian Elliot and Martin Kellard.

Their new book, Stop Bitching Start Pitching shares the proven process to win new business 80% of the time.  Stop Bitching Start Pitching is a proven step-by-step guide to winning business from the new business masters - Ian Elliot and Martin Kellard. In just nine steps you get from the very first meeting to the final presentation. With each stage set out chapter by chapter, the nine steps guarantee you will seize every opportunity, hit every target and maximize your chance of winning.

They offer speeches and workshops worldwide to help your business with a system, a purpose, a focus and a clear understanding of what it takes to have the best chance of winning. To see how we can help your business go to www.elliotandkellard.com, or email Damian Fielke on dfielke@ozemail.com.au.
