The Pond at Bryant Park is a new public ice skating rink and the centerpiece of Fetes de Noel, which also includes the wonderful Holiday Shops at Bryant Park. Open public skating is the primary feature of the 170’ x 100’ state-of-the-art rink, in addition to a range of special events and performances. It’s free! Skate rentals are $7.50.
Fêtes de Noël, Bryant Park, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Now in its fourth year, The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park, an outdoor holiday market features gifts from approximately 125-150 unique retailers from around the world. The shops will be open from Sunday-Thursday: 10am-8pm, Friday & Saturday: 10am-10pm with extended hours as the holidays approach.

TOP OF THE ROCK is more than just a pretty view. In addition to the interactive exhibits on the mezzanine level with its hands-on activities, the stunning views at the summit can be enjoyed by everyone. Hours: 8:30am to midnight, 365 days a year. Last elevator goes up at 11pm.
The Mythic City: Photographs of New York by Samuel H. Gottscho, 1925-1940. Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue. During the 1920s and 30s, architectural photographer Samuel H. Gottscho created a portrait of New York as the quintessential modern metropolis. This exhibition focuses on photographs by Samuel L. Gottscho and features nearly 150 photographs from the Museum's vast collection of Gottscho's work--including skylines, aerials, bridges, and skyscrapers.

5thAnnual Japan Day Festival 2005, The Japanese Folk Dance Institute of New York, Inc., 466 Grand Street. Performances of traditional Japanese folk dance by Minbuza and sword fighting by Suiyo No Kai will be featured as well as demonstrations of flower arrangement, tea ceremony, kimono dressing, origami, calligraphy and clay art. A flower hat dance workshop will be held for the participation of all.

The Art of Richard Tuttle, Whitney Museum of American Art, 945 Madison Avenue. The first full-scale museum retrospective spanning the nearly forty-year career of this leading American artist of the post-minimalist generation. Respecting Tuttle's practice of working in series, the exhibition covers some fifteen bodies of work from the mid-1960s to the present that both blur and enhance multiple categories.

12th Annual “Canstruction” Competition, 200 Lexington Avenue at 34th Street. This is one of Kitt’s favorite exhibits. Children love seeing the creativity of the artists and architects. This exhibit is 34 giant-sized sculptures made entirely from full cans of food designed and built by New York City's top architectural and engineering firms to benefit hunger relief programs. On display at the New York Design Center, Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm. Admission: One Can of Food. Through November 23rd.

2005 Country Music Awards, Madison Square Garden. Sirius Satellite Radio welcomes the Country Music Awards to New York City. This will mark the first time the show has been held outside of Nashville. Sirius is New York City's home base for country music, artist interviews, live performances, and more!

Grand Central Terminal Holiday Laser Light Show, Grand Central Terminal on Vanderbilt Avenue. Utilizing the famed Sky Ceiling of the Main Concourse as a canvas, lasers literally bring the constellations to life, transforming them into snowmen, skiers, famous New York City buildings and much more. Each of six individual five minute shows are presented on the hour and half hour daily from 11am to 9pm. Through December 31st.

Annual Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street. The Museum will continue a long-standing holiday tradition with the annual presentation of its Christmas tree, a favorite of New Yorkers and visitors from around the world. A vivid 18th century Neapolitan crèche sceneembellished with a profuse array of diminutive, lifelike attendant figures and silk-robed angels hovering abovewill adorn the spruce. Through January 8th.

Citigroup Model Train Exhibit, Citigroup Center Atrium, 153 East 53rd Street at Lexington Avenue. Free model train exhibit opens in the Atrium of the Citigroup Center at 10am. Sponge Bob Square Pants greets the children with free photo sessions Friday 11/25 from 10:30am-3pm & Saturday 11/26 from 12:30pm-3pm. Model trains cris cross through elaborate village scenes and mountain passes on an imaginary journey. Through December 30th.

Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Columbus Avenue and 64th Street. Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts presents its 16th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting on Monday, November 28 from 5:30pm to 6:00pm. The festivities take place on Josie Robertson Plaza, right by Lincoln Center's famous plaza fountain at Columbus Avenue and 64th Street.
Wednesday, November 30th
Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting, Rockefeller Center at 47th Street to 51st Street. This is extremely crowded, so beware before you head over there. Take a tip and watch it on NBC television and then go later in the evening when there are fewer crowds. Tree stays lit from 5:30am until 11:50pm through January 6th.
