Spring has finally arrived! It’s been rather a long winter for everyone. Sit outside and enjoy watching the spring buds turn into flowers and leaves. Spring brings a welcome breath of color from the gray of the winter.

Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack is located in Madison Square Park. Patience here is the key. After a 50-minute wait on the line, it was time to place our order. Basically, you are looking at a hamburger and frozen French-fries. Not sure that it’s really worth the wait.

This past month I had a chance to see the Amalfi Hotel in Chicago. They welcome guests each evening with a private “club floor lounge” for hotel guests with open bar and hors d’oeuvres. It’s a nice room to catch up at the end of the day with friends, or sit and relax after meetings. The entire environment is business casual. The front desk is a series of individual desks, where you can sit and check-in. Continental breakfast is served on a buffet across from the elevator on each floor.
The Ritz Carlton, San Francisco was home again this past trip. The Club floor is simply magical at the end of the day. Be careful not to eat too much before heading to The Dining Room. Chef Ron Siegel (ex-Masa’s) prepares absolutely amazing sautéed fois gras. Dinner at Le Suite was delicious. It’s located where the old Slanted Door used to be.
