A Landmark Breakfast Experience

From The Gilded Age of the 1880's through the glamour and excitement of the 1990's Bull Market, The Madison Room in The Palace's famed Villard Mansion has played a seminal role in every heyday that the great City of New York has experienced over the past century. Breakfast has now returned to this historic landmark venue. For those seeking the utmost in elegance and privacy for their breakfast, The Madison Room offers a hearty traditional menu and impeccable service amidst the beauty of this world-renowned drawing room and its views of St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Palace Courtyard. The Madison Room is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. It can be accessed through the Courtyard on Madison Avenue or through Gilt Bar at the top of the Lobby's Grand Staircase.

Few museums are open on Mondays in New York City.  The Cooper Hewitt Museum has added Monday to their schedule.  www.cooperhewitt.org.

Parades are a changing in New York City.  Once, it was possible to celebrate the theme such as St. Patrick’s Day, or Puerto Rican Day.  Today, it’s all about the product and the cash register.

Product placement people are everywhere these days--not just on TV shows such as The Apprentice and in a variety of movies. It’s all about marketing dollars and where to place the brand so that it gets maximum exposure.

The traditional rainbow color scheme of the Heritage of Pride Parade now seems to showcase green, as in the color of money green.  For every social cause and politician running for office, there are now twice as many companies getting attention at this colorful and really fun day of celebration.  This is now the ultimate form of advertising and celebrates capitalism with every bank, soft drink and liquor company, nightclubs, stores, even a new Broadway musical, plus universities using it to promote their products with and services with big floats equipped with huge, loud sound systems and manned with people to hand out coupons, t-shirts and samples!  It's a combination of carnival, state fair and parade. Just stand still and within the hour you'll have 20 coupons or samples tempting you to purchase their products.
