"We help you turn the ordinary into the extraordinary!"

Thank you for all of your comments about the monthly newsletter. We are delighted that you are enjoying it. Please do visit our new website for program details with pricing. You will find the prices for transfers, tours, helicopter rides, all listed there.

Thank you to Wendy Perrin and Condé Nast Traveler for choosing us as their exclusive “Destination Specialist for New York City” for the fourth consecutive year!  We are thrilled to be included amongst the top travel specialists around the world.

I didn't know you did that!

How can you help us with transfers from the airport to the cruise ship and from the cruise ship to the airport?
Ships usually arrive into one of the NY terminals in the morning and depart in the afternoon. Depending upon the arrival time and airport, we can add a variety of interesting stops between the two. For theater lovers, we might stop at a rehearsal studio and meet with a director, producer, casting director, voice coach, choreographer or costume designer and hear what it really takes to get a show on Broadway! You might prefer to have a luncheon with a panel of these experts that's always fun.

A private visit to meet an artist in his or her studio, see some of the hot galleries and have lunch in a neighborhood restaurant.

Exploring either Brooklyn or Queens on the way to the airport is another option. See the July 2007 issue of our newsletter at http://www.dnykg.com/newsletters/july07.html for ideas about things to see in Brooklyn. See Kitt's Footnotes on this newsletter for ideas about Queens.

What can you offer to us for a Board of Directors Meeting for an off-site dinner venue that is fun and interesting?
Providing access to a wonderful variety of off-site venues from the classical to the ultra modern, from private apartments to huge "blank" spaces can be one phone call to us. Please let us know your budget, group size, the interests of your guests, history of past events, age range of your attendees and we'll create a fabulous event for you including the venue, décor, catering, lighting, entertainment, photographers, videographers and transportation to and from the site that meets your needs and expectations.

Can you help us to obtain a luxury suite for the US open?
Yes, please let us know the dates that you would like to attend the US Open and we'll be delighted to provide tickets or an entire package with tickets, hotel, transfers, dinners and interesting experiences to discover other areas of NY.

While you are reading this newsletter, I will be on the on the Viking River Cruise from Berlin to Prague. Look for my comments in the September issue. Two years ago, I enjoyed the Budapest to Amsterdam cruise.

In the July issue of our newsletter, we featured Brooklyn. If any of you missed seeing that or any other newsletter, please note that all issues are stored on our website at dnykg.com under Newsletters. Choose the issue that you missed and click on it. If you have friends of colleagues that you feel would enjoy receiving their own free subscription, simply add their e-mail addresses in the same section of our website. We have many clients in NYC that use the newsletter to remind them of the world of options that are offered here every month. There are so many, it's hard for anyone to keep track of them all.

This month, we thought it would be helpful to feature Queens, home of the US Open Tennis Tournament, Shea Stadium and the NY Mets, in addition to two airports JFK and LGA. If anyone still needs US Open tickets, please let us know the dates, number of tickets and price points based upon seat locations so that we can help you.

There are 22 distinct neighborhoods in Queens, so don't expect that you are going to "see Queens in a day". Our experts can help you take a couple of neighborhoods at a time and enjoy each one. Art predominates Long Island City and includes: the Silvercup Studios, The Fisher Landau Center for Art, the Sculpture Center, Noguchi Museum, P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, Socrates Sculpture Park and the Museum of the Moving Image. It's simply too much to do even that in one day.

Exploring Flushing's Korean and Chinese section leads to delicious meals and interesting markets. Astoria, once the home of Tony Bennett, it is now the home for the largest Greek neighborhood outside of Athens and joined by Mexicans, Brazilians, Italians, Croatians and Koreans. An array of chain stores, boutiques and-one-of-kind shops will fill your every need including restaurants to fill your tummy. So, make a day of it!

To help coordinate with your computer systems, DNY has installed Client Base and Trams. Jamie Morrison and Cheryll Lesser have been our trainers and they are wonderful if any of you considering taking on this challenge.

Our industry is really based upon the contacts that each of us have been fortunate enough to develop over the years with suppliers, agents, planners and our customers. Finding a great product and sharing it with others is one of the joys of networking and building friendships.

As a destination management company, installing and learning Client Base and Trams is more complicated than an installation in a travel agency since it involves adding several additional custom steps to the process. Working with professionals that can think about our needs, develop and execute solutions and keep their sense of humor is critical. With that philosophy in mind, here is our sharing tip for each of you. If you need any help installing or operating Client Base or Trams, here is some background about Jamie and Cheryll.

Jamie Morrison, TCC has been in the travel industry for 20 years. The first 12 were spent working at and managing a travel agency in Coral Gables, Fl. where she became familiar with the TRAMS Back Office System and travel agency operations. Since 2000 she has worked full time as a Software Consultant with Travel Agencies all over the US, Caribbean & Canada, helping them implement TRAMS Back Office and Client Base. Having first hand working knowledge of these programs, she understands the need for onsite training and help with implementing these products, as well as the benefits a business gains by utilizing these systems to their fullest and setting the software up to work for them. Her clients range from small 1 or 2 person offices to agencies with 35 branches and a very large staff. She is certified by TRAMS, Inc. in both ClientBase and TRAMS Back Office and provides services for either or both product(s). Services include business consulting, initial software set up, implementation, training and reporting. Onsite training either one on one or group presentation and training. She will take on anything and travel anywhere! Please contact her at: jamiem@bellsouth.net, jamiebmorrison@yahoo.com or (305)333-4027.

Cheryll Lesser started in the Travel Industry in 1978 as a Travel Agent working at various times in the leisure, corporate and group environments. She then worked as a Sales Representative for a major tour operator before joining Apollo® in 1989. At Apollo, Cheryll held two positions -- Apollo Instructor conducting front-room training classes on the wide variety of products offered, and Backroom Account Manager, handling installations and training of the accounting system. Uniquely qualified to understand both the front and backroom business process, Cheryll established Travel Solutions in 1996 to specifically concentrate on this gap.

Travel Solutions provides a wide array of travel related services for any agency seeking to improve efficiency, implement or enhance training programs, or make better use of data. Solutions packages are customized to target your specific needs and address the most critical issues for your agency, thus keeping time and expense to a minimum. Cheryll is certified in both Trams and GlobalWare accounting systems as well as ClientBase Plus. For more information, please visit www.yourtravelsolutions.com
