Thank you to Wendy Perrin and Condé Nast Traveler for choosing us as their exclusive “Destination Specialist for New York City” for the third consecutive year!  We are thrilled to be included amongst the top travel specialists around the world.

I didn't know you did that!

Can you help us book an apartment for our family to use over the Thanksgiving Weekend?
Yes, DNY now offers packages that include apartments with round trip airport transfers and tickets to the American Museum of Natural History. Call us for details at 212-370-1319.

What training do you have available for us to learn more about how Discover New York can help our clients when they have requests for New York City?
Send an e-mail to sales@dnykg.com to request a telephone training seminar for you and your team at a time that is most convenient for you.

Training tip: If everyone can sit in a conference room with a computer and speaker phone it allows your team to learn together.  That way, one person’s questions will help everyone.  Since many agents and planners now work from their home office, anyone not able to take the training during the scheduled appointment time is welcome to e-mail us and we’ll conduct a training for that individual whenever it is most convenient for them.

Going to a destination can be transformed if you book with the people that can provide access not open to the public. My trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg was a truly magical experience due to the creativity and access provided by Exeter Tours and Esperance.

My non-stop flight on Aeroflot was great. The planes are new, the service is lovely and locally themed food set a really nice tone even if it was prepared at JFK. We felt that we were on our way to a destination from the moment we entered the plane.

In Moscow, we were able to take a private tour of the Kremlin Palace. The restoration work brought back the splendor of a by gone age in both the public rooms and the private bed chambers. The craftsmanship in jewelry, costumes and textiles in the Armory are beautiful. The Pushkin Museum’s Impressionist Galleries were fabulous. It was easy to recognize each artist’s beautiful artwork room by room and it was so interesting to look at works that I had never had a chance to see before in other museums..

St. Petersburg is amazing. I adored the classical architecture of the city and the low buildings provided “open sky” even if it was overcast, damp and cold. Open sky is not something that we have a lot of in midtown New York. This is not the ideal time to visit Russia, but we did not have to fight the crowds.

We were able to experience the Hermitage on Monday when it was closed to the public and enjoy both the architecture, interior design and the wonderful collections. Lunch at the Yusupov Palace and the Ethnographic Museum were special. The private tours of the St. Isaac’s, Peter and Paul’s Fortress, the Russian Museum and the Church of the Spilled Blood were handled by excellent English speaking guides.

Dinner at the Hotel Astoria with kilos of caviar and shots of Russian Vodka helped us get into the swing of the evening. Dinner at the Catherine Palace was just amazing. We drove up in motorcoaches with the snow covering the landscape as if we were part of the set in the 1965 movie Dr. Zhivago. As we drove around the corner, the front of the Catherine Palace came into view.  Greeters in period costumes holding oil torches greeted us as we entered the building. Dinner in the dining room was magical as the service staff were all dressed in period costumes and you could really pretend that Catherine herself was about to make an appearance at any moment.

On a truly shameless personal note, anyone traveling to Raleigh Durham and in need of catering for either yourself, or for sales calls, can be handled by my sister’s catering and café called Comfort Cuisine. Please let Maggie know what you need. Her website is www.comfortcuisine.us. (please note it is not .com). Maggie has an amazing food background. It runs in the family and she’ll be delighted to help you. It’ll be healthy and delicious.
